Homeowner Education

PSHH wants to ensure that every homeowner is ready to be a successful homeowner. We offer the “Yes, You Can Own a Home” Homeownership Education curriculum to help you achieve that goal.
    

You will be invited to participate in this class in order to learn basic information about preparing for homeownership.  The class is conducted by PSHH staff who are certified homeownership counselors through the Kentucky Housing Corporation. Topics to be discussed include:

• Are You Ready to Become a Homeowner?
• Understanding the Homebuying Process: Mortgage Loans and Documents
• How Much Will My Home Cost? A Look at Mortgage Financing
• Budgeting: Managing Your Finances
• Understanding Credit: A Look at Credit Reports
• Predatory Lending: How to Avoid Becoming a Victim
• Basic Home Maintenance (includes a visit to a new PSHH home)
• Foreclosure Prevention

 Individual Credit and Budget Counseling (Pre-Purchase)

Once you have completed the homeownership education class, our certified counselors are available to assist you in resolving any credit or budget issues in order for you to become a successful homeowner. They will also walk with you through the process of selecting the location of your home, customizing your floorplans and building specifications, obtaining affordable financing, and understanding the details of all mortgage documents and paperwork.  Our counselors are available to meet with you at your convenience to discuss any questions or concerns you may have.

 Post-Purchase Homeownership Counseling

 PSHH homeownership counselors are available to meet with you after you move into your new home to discuss any questions or concerns you may have.  PSHH is committed to ensuring the success of our homeowners and we are ready to assist you as you enjoy your new home in the years ahead!
